Built for your next step

Understand what's really happening inside your codebase.

A product can appear to work while accumulating architectural weaknesses, technical debt, fragile dependencies, and maintainability problems underneath.

Our Code Quality & Architecture Review provides an independent engineering assessment of your application to identify structural problems before they become expensive production issues.

Best suited for

  • Startups with an existing MVP or SaaS product
  • Founders who inherited a codebase from another developer or agency
  • Products built rapidly using AI-assisted development
  • Teams experiencing increasing bugs or slower development
  • Startups preparing to scale their engineering team
  • Founders considering a major product rebuild or refactor

What success looks like

Leave with evidence-backed findings, ranked technical risks and a refactoring roadmap your team can use to prioritise further development.

Inside the engagement

What we review

Application architecture

We examine how your frontend, backend, database, services, integrations, and infrastructure fit together.

Code organisation

We assess maintainability, modularity, duplication, complexity, dependencies, and separation of responsibilities.

Technical debt

We identify areas where shortcuts or legacy decisions are increasing engineering effort or creating future risk.

Database architecture

We review relevant schema design, data relationships, query patterns, migrations, and data-access architecture.

Authentication and permissions

We examine how users, roles, sessions, and privileged functionality are structured.

Error handling

We assess how the application detects, handles, logs, and recovers from errors.

Testing

We review automated tests, critical coverage gaps, regression risk, and testing practices.

Third-party dependencies

We identify important external libraries, APIs, frameworks, and technical dependencies.

Development maintainability

We consider how easily another engineer or team could understand, extend, and maintain the application.

Inside the engagement

Example findings

Critical

Authentication implementation creates a potential privilege boundary issue.

High

Payment processing logic is tightly coupled to core business logic, increasing failure and maintenance risk.

Medium

Automated regression coverage is limited for critical user journeys.

Low

Several modules contain duplicated business logic that could be consolidated.

A clearly defined scope

Scope & boundaries

Final scope depends on application size, number of repositories, technology stack, and required access.

From first conversation to handover

A clear path to delivery

  1. 01

    Technical Discovery

We understand your product, current technology stack, business priorities, known problems, and desired outcome.

  2. 02

    Agree the scope

Define the systems, repositories, access, review areas or implementation work, deliverables and acceptance criteria for your engagement.

  3. 03

    Review & assess

Inspect the agreed product areas, document evidence and prioritise findings. Review recommendations with your team.

  4. 04

    Prioritise & hand over

Walk through findings and completed work, confirm next priorities and hand over the agreed documentation and recommendations.

The details that matter

Before we get started

A few things to know about scope, timing and working together.

Is this a fixed-price package?

The displayed prices are indicative. We agree a defined scope, acceptance criteria and a project quote before work starts. Requests beyond that scope are estimated separately.

What do you need from our team?

A product or operations contact, access to the agreed systems and documentation, representative test data, and timely feedback. We confirm access and integration dependencies before scheduling delivery.

When does the delivery timeline begin?

The target delivery window is 5–7 working days, starting once scope, access and dependencies are ready. Third-party approvals or changes to the agreed scope can affect timing.

What happens after delivery?

We walk your team through the assessment, findings and prioritised roadmap. You can act on the recommendations internally or request a separate engineering proposal.

Prices are indicative GBP project ranges. Final scope, deliverables, acceptance criteria and price are agreed before work starts. Timelines assume defined scope, available technical access and compatible third-party integrations. Vendor, infrastructure, regulatory and licensing costs are excluded.
